The Raleigh House is a nationally recognized substance abuse treatment provider that combines traditional, holistic, and experiential therapies to support clients on their recovery journey. Our therapeutic services include individual and group therapy, equine therapy, art therapy, indoor rock climbing, horticulture, trauma-informed yoga, and access to a serene outdoor walking trail. We are dedicated to empowering individuals through transformative healing experiences.
We are seeking an experienced Ranch/Equine Hand to join our team and work directly with our horses, maintaining our equine facilities, and assisting with property upkeep on our expansive 40-acre ranch in Watkins, CO. With sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the healing process while caring for our animals and maintaining the ranch’s environment.
Essential Functions
- Daily care of horses, including grooming, brushing, feeding, mucking stalls, and providing necessary medications.
- Assist with exercising horses to ensure their physical and mental well-being, especially those involved in equine therapy sessions.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized equine facility to ensure optimal care for the horses.
- Ensure horses are properly prepared for therapy sessions and interact with them in a calm, consistent manner.
- Assist with light property maintenance, including repairs and upkeep of ranch facilities and equipment.
- Keep the ranch and surrounding areas clean, including managing trash, snow removal, and general yard work.
- Support other staff members with various ranch-related duties as needed.
Education and Other Employment Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience working with horses and performing ranch-hand duties.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as mucking stalls, grooming, and exercising horses in various weather conditions (including snow, wind, rain, and heat).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
