Volt is immediately hiring for 1st & 2nd shift Soldering Electro-Mechanical Assembler in Carlsbad, Ca.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble and package electronic components, sub-assemblies, and products per documented specifications.
- Read, understand, and identify SMD components.
- Interpret safety rules, operating manuals, procedure manuals, pick lists, Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and work instructions.
- Perform soldering on through-hole components and 0402 SMT packages with proficiency.
- Collaborate with the Production Lead to identify and implement process improvements.
- Work safely within an ESD-sensitive environment.
- Manage time effectively to meet production goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
As a 1st shift Soldering Electro-Mechanical Assembler you will:
- Works independently with minimal supervision while performing multiple tasks.
- Conducts inspections, checks, and tests to ensure product quality.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of SMT soldering procedures and processes.
- Performs soldering under a microscope and alternates between various responsibilities.
- Applies thorough knowledge of IPC-610 workmanship standards.
- Assists with prototype assemblies and subcomponents.
- Accesses and follows production work instructions and engineering documentation independently.
- Uses strong computer and communication skills to collaborate with leads, peers, supervisors, and engineers.
- Participates in daily housekeeping and maintains a clean work environment.
This is a full-time opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Must be able to obtain IPC-610 Certification as a Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 2-4 years of soldering, rework, and inspection experience
- Strong attention to detail and quality-driven mindset
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Must be available for overtime as needed
- Strong communication skills
- Reliable transportation
- Basic computer skills
- 2nd shift must be available to train on 1st shift
