Job Title: Property Controller
Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled Controller to join a dynamic real estate investment company. This pivotal role will focus on overseeing property accounting operations, enhancing processes and controls, and building a high-performing team. The Controller will work cross-functionally to improve operational efficiency, leverage technology for better decision-making, and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely property accounting operations
- Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to establish robust accounting processes, performance metrics, and internal controls
- Manage property accounting systems and banking platforms, ensuring efficiency and alignment with best practices
- Oversee general ledger, sub-ledgers, CAM, budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting deliverables; review and approve all outputs
- Facilitate collaboration between corporate accounting, property accounting, asset management, leasing, construction, and valuation teams to drive alignment and operational effectiveness
- Guide process improvements, implement new technologies, and deliver training to enhance team performance and workflow efficiency
- Supervise treasury functions and support internal and external audit processes, maintaining the highest standards of compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- 8 years of experience in property accounting, real estate finance, or related roles. Industrial, commercial, or retail real estate exposure is preferred.
- Proven track record of leading teams and improving accounting systems and processes
- Advanced knowledge of property accounting software (MRI a plus), Excel, and financial modeling
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and ownership mentality
- Strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operational execution with long-term process improvements
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The estimated {annual or hourly} pay range for this position is $170k - $190k bonus. Actual compensation will be determined by the hiring authority and may vary depending on qualifications and other factors relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
