Ophthalmic Technician

Description

We are looking for an Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing team! Ideally, you will have at least 2-3 years of experience as a technician in a successful ophthalmology practice and having your certification is a big plus! Our team works very closely together, so ability to work well with others, eagerness to learn and a focus on patient care is key. This position will be dynamic and flexible, perfect for someone who likes to participate in various tasks throughout the day and dislikes monotony.

As an ophthalmic technician/Scheduler in our state-of-the art practice, you will be:

• Experienced in a fast-paced clinic environment.
• Efficient and accurate at interviewing patients and documenting histories.
• Able to ensure charts are updated and accurate.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease and ocular medications.
• Experienced with HVF, Lensometry, Keratometry, Tonometry, Visual Fields, Amslers,
• Muscle Fields, Pupil Exams, and Refracting.
• Proficient with EMR computer programs.

Required experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years in a similar position for an ophthalmologist or optometrist
• Refractions
• checking vision, identifying chief complaint
• IOP
• various diagnostic tests (Fundus photos, OCT, Visuals)

Preferred qualifications:

• Current COA or greater certification is a plus. Ophthalmic experience with a focus on cataract surgery is preferred.
• Proficiency in BAT glare testing, A-scans, refraction techniques, eyedrop instillation, and obtaining pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with patients of all ages, particularly the elderly.
• Experience in surgical scheduling and patient counseling is highly desirable but can be taught.
