Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating diverse teaching methods and learning technologies to meet varied student needs.
- Teach core subjects such as Math—including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus—while integrating literacy education, creative writing, and AP style principles.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support growth.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation and respect among students.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school-wide initiatives such as library services and physical education programs.
- Mentor students academically and socially by offering guidance, academic advising, and support tailored to childhood development stages.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, behavior management strategies, and upcoming assessments or events.
- Support students’ extracurricular interests by coaching sports or facilitating extracurricular activities that promote teamwork and leadership skills.
- Utilize learning technology tools to enhance lesson delivery and foster digital literacy among students.
- Assist in special education initiatives or classroom accommodations to ensure all learners receive appropriate support.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with middle school students in a formal educational setting is required; private school experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching Math subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, along with literacy skills including proofreading, copy editing, and creative writing.
- Proven ability to develop comprehensive curricula that incorporate standards like the Chicago Manual of Style and AP style guides.
- Experience in classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and effective learning environments.
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and assessment tools used in middle school education.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices for engaging children at this age level.
- Skills in mentoring students academically while fostering their social-emotional growth through public speaking, tutoring, or academic advising roles.
- Comfort using learning technology platforms to enhance instruction and facilitate library services or other resource-based activities.
