Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Manager, Internal Controls & Financial Reporting will be responsible for leading Viridian’s internal controls program, internal and external reporting and will oversee various technical accounting issues. This individual will work cross-functionally to lead, support, maintain and enhance our internal controls, SEC reporting, internal reporting and preparing various technical accounting documentation.
This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office at least three (3) days a week.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Lead the SEC reporting process including updating financial statements utilizing Workiva, updating 10-K and 10-Q filings and underlying supporting schedules, coordinating with Legal and other departments for business updates, etc.
- Lead, design and maintain Viridian’s internal control environment, focused on 404(b) compliance, risk assessments and audit management
- Identify accounting issues, research accounting matters, and prepare technical accounting memos on a quarterly or ad-hoc basis
- Administer and manage adherence to controls and timelines utilizing FloQast
- Ensure accounting policies are kept up-to-date and right-sized to the organization
- Coordinate directly with external and internal auditors for testing, or review requests
- Provide other direct ad hoc support to the team’s close acceleration and additional reporting initiatives
- Coordinate with FP&A in the development and preparation of internal and external financial reports
- Provide support with equity and share-based compensation processes, including the preparation of disclosure and other internal reporting schedules, performing SOX controls or reviews, reviewing and reconciling equity grant activity
- Perform various internal controls activities, including key report testing, IT workflow reviews and testing, documentation uplift procedures and training other members of the organization on 404(b) requirements
- Provide other ad hoc support to the team on special finance team projects as the organization grows and prepares to launch its first commercial product
- Work cross functionally with various teams while contributing to a positive team spirit and embracing Viridian’s core competencies
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or CPA license with 8 years of progressive accounting experience
- SEC and financial reporting experience including Sarbanes Oxley internal controls experience
- A combination of public and biotech experience is preferred
- Commercial launch or commercial drug experience is preferred
- Systems conversions, implementations, and process improvement experience strongly preferred
- Strong project management skills
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Efficient independent worker with ability to focus and drive for results while maintaining an eye towards continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle multiple tasks
- Strong commitment to ethical standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
- The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
