Associate Director – Technical Accounting & External Reporting
Pay Rate: $85-$90/hour
We are seeking an Associate Director to support technical accounting and external reporting activities. This role focuses on evaluating complex accounting matters, drafting position papers, and staying ahead of new financial reporting requirements. The position is hybrid in the Boston area (3 days onsite) and is a 6-month contract.

Primary Responsibilities
- Perform technical accounting research and draft analyses/position papers on areas such as:
- Revenue recognition
- Collaboration arrangements
- Consolidation and variable interest entities
- Business combinations and asset acquisitions
- Goodwill and intangible asset valuation/impairment
- Develop, update, and oversee the organization’s accounting policies.
- Partner with Business Development to evaluate and document accounting and financial reporting considerations for prospective initiatives.
- Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory guidance; prepare executive summaries and implementation planning materials.
- Lead and collaborate across departments to implement new standards and related financial reporting changes.
- Serve as the primary contact for internal and external auditors on relevant topics.
- Mentor and support team members on technical accounting and problem-solving activities.
- Contribute to special initiatives and projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
- CPA (required)
- 8 years of progressing accounting/reporting experience, ideally within a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or public company setting.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Advanced Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
- Demonstrated experience applying new accounting standards.
