Payroll Accountant - Boston (Hybrid!)
A Boston-based consulting firm is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join their growing finance team. This role will own payroll accounting and processing activities, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with payroll tax and regulatory requirements.
Compensation: $70,000-90,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Process U.S. payroll, including salaries, taxes, deductions, benefits, and PTO.
- Maintain payroll data integrity across HRIS, payroll, and ERP systems.
- Prepare payroll and benefits-related journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Manage payroll-related balance sheet accounts and support month-end close activities.
- Perform quarter-end and year-end wage and tax reconciliations, including W-2 support.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and partner closely with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 2 years of payroll accounting or payroll administration experience.
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and payroll tax compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now, NetSuite, Rippling, or similar payroll/ERP/HRIS platforms.
- Multi-state payroll experience preferred.
- Hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite).
