Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates In transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
Provide high-quality instruction, guidance, assessment, and mentorship to learners enrolled in community-based education programs offered by the Division of Workforce Development. Instruction encompasses a wide range of modalities, including classroom, laboratory, field sites, distance learning, and individual or small-group conferences. Programs include, but are not limited to, workforce training, adult education, and correctional education initiatives.
Instructors are responsible for fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, growth, and skill mastery. This includes developing and implementing lesson plans, delivering instruction aligned with program objectives, and employing innovative teaching strategies to meet the diverse educational needs of learners.
Instructors actively assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and guide learners toward achieving personal, professional, and academic goals. Instructors are expected to contribute to the mission, vision, and community of the college through active participation in departmental, institutional, and workforce initiatives. Collaboration with colleagues, industry partners, and correctional or community agencies is essential to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of programs.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

- Knowledgeable of security protocols, institutional policies, and the unique social, emotional, and behavioural challenges faced by justice-involved individuals.
- Knowledge of designing and implementing educational programs that address community needs, including workforce development, continuing education, and enrichment courses.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.

- Ability to teach and facilitate skill development.
