Blue Ridge Community College seeks a part-time Pharmacy Technician Program Coordinator & Instructor to provide leadership, development, direction, recruitment, instruction, and administration for all aspects of its Pharmacy Technician program. This position is responsible for ensuring the program meets community demands for trained pharmacy technicians and maintains full compliance with the standards of its national accrediting body, the NHA National Healthcareer Association collaboration with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
This is a part-time wage position, limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period, with no benefits. There is potential eligibility for educational assistance for BRCC classes and job-related training and/or certifications. Candidates selected for interview may be required to facilitate a teaching demonstration as part of the interview process.
Core Responsibilities
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

To meet the minimum requirements of the NHA, the accrediting body for this program, candidates must meet the qualifications of one of the following three pathways:

- Oversee and develop curricula to ensure it reflects the standards set by NHA.
- Secure and maintain affiliation agreements with appropriate clinical sites; oversee the training and placement of students in experiential settings.
- Provide dynamic, college-level instruction in program courses, applying knowledge of adult learning theories and principles to design and delivery in both face-to-face and online learning environments.
- Engage in continuous program evaluation, maintain all required records, and complete annual reports and strategic plans for the college and accrediting body.
- Ensure Program Learning Outcomes and Course Learning Outcomes are collected and analyzed as per guidelines set by the accrediting body.

- Ability to secure and maintain affiliation agreements with clinical sites and oversee the placement and training of students in experiential settings.
- Ability to effectively deliver instruction, manage a classroom environment, and evaluate student performance.

- Must hold a current, unrestricted license as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia or be eligible for such licensure.
- Must be a member of a national pharmacy organization and its corresponding state affiliate.
- Must hold a current, unrestricted registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Must possess, or be actively pursuing with a documented plan, at least an Associate’s Degree.
- Must be a member of a national pharmacy organization and its corresponding state affiliate.
- Must hold a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or be eligible for such licensure.
- Must have a strong understanding of both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy practices.
The following qualifications are not required, but would be helpful in this role:
- Experience in pharmacy practice, to include a variety of settings (e.g., hospital, community).
- Experience serving as a preceptor or instructor for pharmacy technician students.
- For candidates qualifying under Pathway B, graduation from an ACPE/NHA-accredited pharmacy technician training program is advantageous.
