Youth Tennis/Pickleball Coach

Vineyard City Recreation is hiring enthusiastic coaches for our 2025 Youth Tennis & Pickleball League, scheduled from June 1 – July 23, 2026. Coaches will lead teams of youth aged 10-14, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Schedule & Commitment:

• Boys Division (ages 10-14):
  • Matches: Mondays, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM (locations vary throughout Utah County)
  • Practices: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Vineyard Grove Park
• Girls Division (ages 10-14):
  • Matches: Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM (locations vary throughout Utah County)
  • Practices: Mondays & Wednesdays, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Vineyard Grove Park

Teams will consist of one coach and up to 14 participants. The season will include 4-5 regular matches and a postseason tournament. Hours are approximately 6-15 per week with some flexibility available.

Responsibilities:

• Teach and reinforce fundamental tennis/pickleball skills (forehand, backhand, serves, positioning, net play, volleys)
• Educate participants on the rules and strategies of the game
• Promote teamwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship
• Serve as a positive role model for youth participants
• Maintain clear, consistent communication with Vineyard's Recreation Coordinator
• Participate in mandatory in-person training prior to coaching
• Participate in a mid-season evaluation by Vineyard Recreation Staff

Qualifications:

• Minimum age of 18 years old
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to effectively coach and engage youth participants
• Physical ability to perform coaching duties, including running, jumping, racket handling, and lifting 25 lbs.
• Basic knowledge of tennis rules (coaching experience preferred, but not required)
• Ability to follow safety procedures and manage decisions under pressure
• Successful completion of a background check
• First Aid certification preferred but not required
