What are the responsibilities and job description for the Choir Director - Senior Center position at Village of Grafton?
Under direct supervision of the Senior Coordinator, Choir Directors provide instruction, monitor and educate participants on singing, and maintain a safe and positive atmosphere for choir participants.- Teaches scheduled rehearsals, beginning and ending on time, provides adequate warm-up, singing and instruction
- Instructs participants on musical parts and accompanies songs on the piano
- Prepares appropriate music and handouts for each class
- Coordinates holiday and spring performances with local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
- Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive singing experience
- Ensure safety standards are met and department and facility policies are followed- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification preferredSKILLS
Knowledge of teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, cueing technique, and rhythm. Ability to be professional and motivate choir participants. Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members and the public.
PHYSICAL SKILLS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, reach and manipulate objects, talk and/or hear. This position requires mobility. Duties require attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of participants that may need modification of music. This position requires the employee to project his/her voice so that participants can hear instructions.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
This position can range from 1.5 - 8 hours per week. The starting hourly rate is $19.59.
