What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Seasonal Operator position at Village of Grafton?
The Utility Seasonal Operator supports full-time Utility Operators by assisting with routine maintenance for buildings, grounds, and vehicles, and water/sewer system maintenance. This position will typically receive daily work assignments and instruction from the Field Operations Coordinator, but may also periodically receive assignments and instructions from the Utility Director that include but are not limited to:
Buildings and grounds maintenance including wells, lift stations, and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to include:
- Cleaning of facility floors, windows, walls, process piping, etc.
- Sweep or power-wash exteriors of WWTP buildings, lift stations, and well buildings
- Perform ground maintenance activities including mowing and trimming lawns
- Landscaping clean-up, pruning, edging, weeding, blowing, and vegetation control
- Maintain decorative flower pot plantings at WWTP, wells, and lift stations
Facilities operations and maintenance activities:
- Assist operations staff with taking WWTP clarifiers out of service for cleaning and inspection
- Perform small painting projects around facilities, interior and exterior
- Washing and waxing of Utility trucks and equipment
- Assist operations staff with weekly WWTP clarifier cleaning
- Assist operations staff with field activities such as sewer jetting, manhole reconstruction, weekly manhole inspections, etc.
- Perform mid-summer dead end fire hydrant painting/flushing as instructed
- Organize water and sewer as-built drawings
- Assist operations staff with large meter testing and installations
- Provide support to Utility Maintenance staff
Tools and Equipment Used
Lawn mower, weed whip, landscaping tools, pressure washer, and other basic hand and power tools. Education and Experience:
A. Must be at least 17 years of age,
B. Possess a valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license, or be able to obtain prior to hire
C. Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. on occasion
D. Ability to work outside and in all weather conditionsPhysical Demands
