What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fitness Instructor II - Yoga position at Village of Grafton?
Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, Fitness Instructors provide instruction, monitor and educate participants on fitness and safety, and maintain a safe and positive atmosphere for class participants.- Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time, providing adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching and cool down
- Instructs participants on effective workout methods, explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles
- Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class
- Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience
- Ensure safety standards are met, and department and facility policies are followed- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification preferred
- Certified Instructor, specialty/certification required
- Knowledge of teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, cueing techniques, and rhythm
- Ability to be professional and motivate class participants
- Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members and the publicPhysical Skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, kneel, reach and manipulate objects, as well as talk and/or hear. This position requires mobility. Duties require attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognizing and identifying participants who may need modification of exercises. This position requires the employee to have a high degree of energy and be able to project their voice so that participants can hear instructions.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position can range from 1.5 - 8 hours per week. The starting rate is $22.13 per hour.
