Swing/Weekend Shifts
***We are currently recruiting for all shifts. Overnight shifts receive a $2.00/hr shift differential.***

WVH&UC has a current opening for a full-time, experienced Registered Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency department.
Emergency Department Veterinary Technician Duties:
- Provide nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with specialty and emergency veterinarians
- Triage incoming patients
- Assess patient stability and obtain patient vital signs
- Perform diagnostics and treatments of emergency, specialty, and hospitalized patients
- Perform hourly patient assessment and monitoring
- Observe patients and recognize changes in status
- Place peripheral and central catheters
- Restrain patients for exams and treatments
- Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids
- Maintain urinary catheters
- Bandage removal and application
- Perform suture and drain removal
- Perform drug dose calculations for injectable medications and CRIs
- Administer injectable medications (IV, IM, SQ)
- Administer other medications (PO, OU, OD)
- Maintain isolation protocols for infectious patients
- Basic wound cleaning and care
- Administer injectable and inhalant anesthesia
- Monitor patients while under anesthesia and maintain a monitoring log
- Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia
- Obtain samples for and perform in-house laboratory testing
- Client communication and education
- Patient triage and discharge
- Hospitalized patient care
- Patient monitoring and treatments
- In-house laboratory testing
- Medication calculation and administration
- Venipuncture; IV catheter placement
- Digital radiography and more
Preferred Education and Experience
- 1 years of experience in the veterinary field
- Preference will be given to an individual desiring to pursue a degree in veterinary technology or animal science
