This Director, Public Relations (Media Relations & Brand Visibility) role is responsible for leading the development and execution of a high-impact public relations strategy for a nationally recognized organization.
This is a senior-level, hands-on public relations role with a strong emphasis on earned media, storytelling, and executive visibility. The position plays a key role in elevating brand reputation, shaping external perception, and driving awareness of complex, high-value work through strategic media relations and thought leadership.
The role blends traditional PR execution with modern visibility strategies, including digital amplification, content alignment, and cross-channel storytelling. It requires someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and can work directly with senior leaders to shape narratives and external messaging.
Worksite Location: Open to candidates based in Minneapolis or Boston metro areas, with a hybrid work environment.
Salary: $160,000-$180,000 (DOE)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of a comprehensive public relations strategy focused on earned media and brand visibility
- Own proactive and reactive media relations strategy across national, regional, and industry-specific outlets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and key media influencers
- Develop compelling storylines, press materials, messaging frameworks, and pitch strategies
- Secure high-impact earned media coverage that elevates brand reputation and executive visibility
- Partner with senior leadership to shape external narratives and thought leadership positioning
- Identify and execute opportunities to amplify visibility through strategic partnerships and external platforms
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing and business development teams to ensure message alignment
- Manage external PR agencies and partners to support execution and extend capacity
- Monitor media landscape trends and identify opportunities to enhance visibility and relevance
- 10 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or strategic communications within agency or in-house
- Proven success securing high-impact earned media coverage at a national or industry level
- Strong background in media relations-driven PR environments
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and messaging development skills
- Experience advising senior leadership and managing executive communications
- Ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, compelling external narratives
- Experience managing integrated PR campaigns and external agency partners
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility quickly across stakeholders
- Experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments strongly preferred
