What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Verrus?
Operations Manager – Generator Services | Houston, TX $120,000 – $160,000 base
A leading multi-brand home services platform is looking for an Operations Manager to run its generator sales, installation and service business in the Houston area. This is a revenue-driving operations role, not a cost-cutting one.
The business is well established with a strong, tenured field and support team, and premier dealer status with a top-tier generator brand. What it needs now is a leader who can rebuild sales momentum and take it from steady maintenance revenue to genuine growth, reporting into the branch's General Manager and a wider regional support structure.
The opportunity
Generator services is a demand-driven, event-triggered business. This role is about proving the business can grow without waiting for the next storm. You'll take ownership of a branch with a strong technical foundation and legacy customer base, and build the proactive sales engine it hasn't had before.
What you'll be doing
- Owning day-to-day P&L performance for the branch, with a clear mandate to grow revenue, not just protect margin
- Building a proactive, outbound sales motion for generator installs and maintenance contracts, reducing reliance on storm-driven demand
- Developing a commercial pipeline (schools, medical centres, retail) alongside the existing strong residential base
- Leading and developing an experienced install, dispatch, and field team, several with long tenure in the generator trade
- Reporting to the branch General Manager, with additional support from a regional leadership and central resource team (sales, training, technical)
What you'll bring
- Direct experience in the generator services or standby power industry, ideally with exposure to permitting, code compliance, and the operational realities specific to the trade
- A track record of driving revenue growth in a home services or field services business, not just running operations
- Comfort working in a business backed by private equity, with the pace and accountability that comes with it
- Commercial instincts, ideally with some exposure to B2B or light commercial sales alongside residential
- Strong people leadership; this branch has good people who need direction and momentum, not a rebuild from scratch
Why this role
- Genuine autonomy to shape a branch's commercial direction, backed by a company actively investing in growth
- A business with real upside: a comparable division elsewhere in the group already runs at $20-30M in revenue
- Strong internal support structure (regional leadership, sales training, technical resources) so you're not building alone
Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
