Vernovis is looking for a highly skilled Development Lead to support and elevate our client’s development efforts. This role is centered on hands-on development, technical leadership, and architectural ownership, driving consistency, scalability, and modernization of legacy systems.
Successful candidates will operate as a player-coach, partnering closely with product and business stakeholders while assisting leadership with setting technical director, mentoring developers, and ensuring high-quality execution across the development lifecycle. This is a lead-through-influence role, not day-to-day team management, with accountability for technical outcomes and delivery quality.

What You'll Do:
- Provide technical leadership and direction to a nearshore development team, ensuring alignment of architecture, standards, and delivery goals
- Contribute hands-on to designing and building scalable applications using .NET, React, and SQL Server
- Establish and promote best practices for coding standards, system design, and application architecture
- Partner with product teams to translate business needs into well-defined technical solutions and implementation plans
- Drive consistency in development processes using tools like JIRA, Jenkins, and Octopus Deploy
- Contribute to solution architecture and long-term application roadmap planning
- Ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance through code reviews and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with UI/UX teams to ensure seamless integration between design and development standards
- Support the full development lifecycle including API development, front-end delivery, database design, and deployment
- Identify technical risks early and implement solutions to improve scalability and reliability
- Mentor developers through technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and guidance when challenges arise
- Serve as a key liaison between development, product, and business teams to align priorities and outcomes
- Step in as needed to support troubleshooting, unblock development efforts, and ensure successful delivery
- 5–7 years of hands-on software development experience
- Strong expertise in .NET, React, SQL Server, Windows, and IIS
- Experience working in CI/CD environments using tools like JIRA and Jenkins
- Proven ability to lead through technical guidance and influence within distributed or nearshore teams
- Demonstrated experience contributing to solution architecture and system design
- Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering scalable, high-quality solutions
- Ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership responsibilities
- Effective communicator who collaborates well across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to supporting both internal and external users
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on learning and growth
- Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent experience/training)
- Team members are expected to volunteer a minimum of 5 total days of availability to assist our client’s operations team(s) during the holiday periods of Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day.
- Days spent assisting in operations will serve as replacement for normal work.
- This can include but is not limited to pulling back stock at customer locations and delivering products on routes.
