- Provide comprehensive nursing care to behavioral health patients in accordance with established standards and policies
- Perform patient assessments, develop nursing care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Monitor patient safety, manage crisis situations, and utilize de-escalation techniques as appropriate
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and available resources
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health nursing principles and practices
- Ability to assess and respond effectively to patients experiencing mental health crises
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress healthcare environment
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Experience
- Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience preferred
- Acute care hospital experience a plus
- Current BCLS certification
