Role Overview
The Sales Director is responsible for leading the sales organization, driving revenue growth, and defining the strategic direction of the company’s sales efforts. This role oversees sales planning, execution, team leadership, and customer relationship management to ensure the company meets or exceeds its growth targets.
Responsibilities of the Sales Director
Sales Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company goals.
- Forecast revenue, set sales targets, and create action plans to achieve them.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to adjust strategies proactively.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the sales team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, train, and onboard new sales team members.
- Establish performance metrics, conduct regular reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
Business Development
- Identify new business opportunities and key growth markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic accounts, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support the team in high-value negotiations and major customer engagements.
Operational Excellence
- Track and report key sales metrics, pipeline status, and market insights.
- Ensure accurate CRM usage and adherence to sales processes.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Operations, and Finance to support integrated go-to-market initiatives.
Customer & Market Focus
- Champion a customer-centric sales culture that prioritizes value and long-term partnerships.
- Manage escalations and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
Requirements of the Sales Director
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA a plus).
- 8–12 years of sales experience, including 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and scaling sales organizations.
Skills & Competencies
