VEA Health is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to join a growing inpatient program at Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde, Texas. This position offers a manageable hospitalist model with APP support, open ICU coverage, and the opportunity to practice in a modern regional facility.
Qualifications
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with hospitalist experience
- ACLS required
- BLS required
- 25 hospital beds
- 19 ED beds in a new hospital opened in March 2022
- Level IV Trauma designation
- Annual hospitalist encounters: 5,110, averaging 14 visits per day
- Admissions per day: 4
- Physician schedule: 24-hour model with 7 a.m. report onsite and telephonic availability after rounding
- APP day shift: 1p–9p onsite Monday through Friday
- APP flex shift provides surge support, including weekends
- Admission percentage from ED: 5%, with high transfer-out rate
- Open ICU
- Teleneurology available 24/7 for ED stroke support only
- Procedures not required
- Specialties on staff include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Radiology, Wound Care, and Cardiology
- EMR: Meditech Expanse
- Patient satisfaction method: Press Ganey
