Role Overview
As a Building Automation Technician, you will install, commission, program, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation systems. The core focus will be Distech Controls BACnet Niagara (Tridium) devices and software. You will work independently and with project teams to ensure systems operate reliably and meet client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
System Installation & Commissioning
- Install and configure Distech Controls field devices, controllers, sensors, actuators, and panel assemblies.
- Program and commission Tridium Niagara (AX/N4) controllers and Supervisory Controllers.
- Configure BACnet/IP and MS/TP networks.
Software & Programming
- Develop and modify control logic using Niagara Workbench (AX/N4) and Distech EC-NET or equivalent.
- Create, edit, and optimize graphics, schedules, alarms, and trends.
- Implement sequencing, setpoints and energy optimization strategies.
Maintenance, Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair control system faults on Distech and Tridium platforms.
- Provide onsite and remote support, root-cause analysis, and resolution.
- Maintain records of service activities and system configurations.
Testing & Documentation
- Perform functional testing of all installed equipment.
- Produce clear documentation including as-built drawings, control narratives, and diagrams.
- Train clients/operators on system usage, interface, and scheduling.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with general contractors, engineers, facility stakeholders, and project managers.
- Participate in site meetings, coordinate with trades, and report status regularly.
- Mentor junior technicians when applicable.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Proven experience with Distech Controls products and programming.
- Strong experience with Tridium Niagara Framework (AX/N4), Workbench, driver configuration, and BACnet.
- Proficiency in debugging networks (BACnet/IP & MS/TP), field wiring, and I/O devices.
- HVAC fundamentals and control logic understanding.
- Ability to read electrical and control schematics.
Certifications (preferred)
- Tridium Niagara Certification (any level)
- Distech Controls Certification
- Certified BACnet Professional (CBP) or BACnet Fundamentals
- EPA 608 Refrigerant handling (advantageous)
Soft Skills
- Analytical/diagnostic mindset.
- Strong communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with ability to prioritize tasks.
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel within Florida.
- Ability to work in customer facilities.
- Must pass background checks where required.
Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
