Building Automation Service Manager – Distech & Tridium

Job Summary
The Building Automation Service Manager is responsible for leading service operations for Distech Controls and Tridium Niagara–based building automation systems across commercial and institutional facilities in South Florida. This role oversees technicians, manages service contracts, ensures technical excellence, and drives customer satisfaction while supporting energy efficiency, system optimization, and long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Service Operations & Team Leadership
- Manage daily BAS service operations for Distech Controls and Niagara Framework systems
- Supervise, mentor, and develop BAS service technicians and engineers
- Oversee service scheduling, emergency response, and on-call rotations
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, company standards, and local codes
Technical Leadership (Distech & Niagara Focus)
- Serve as technical authority for Distech Controls (ECB, ECLYPSE, EC-Net) and Tridium Niagara (N4)
- Support troubleshooting of advanced HVAC control, IP networking, and integration issues
- Review and approve control sequences, graphics, databases, and system backups
- Guide system upgrades, migrations, and cybersecurity best practices
- Support BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and REST/API integrations
Customer & Contract Management
- Act as primary escalation point for key service customers
- Manage and grow service agreements, including renewals and expansions
- Partner with customers on system optimization, analytics, and energy-saving initiatives
- Support service sales with technical input, scopes of work, and estimates
Financial & Performance Management
- Manage service budgets, labor utilization, and contract profitability
- Track KPIs such as response time, SLA compliance, first-time fix rate, and customer satisfaction
- Review and approve timecards, expenses, and service billing
- Collaborate with sales and project teams to ensure smooth handoffs
Compliance & Regional Focus
- Ensure compliance with Florida Building Code, ASHRAE, and local AHJ requirements
- Support hurricane preparedness, disaster recovery, and system resilience planning
- Coordinate service work in occupied and mission-critical facilities
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years of experience in Building Automation Systems with Distech Controls and Tridium Niagara
- 2 years in a service leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, BAS networking, and system integrations
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage customer relationships
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout South Florida
Preferred
- Niagara N4 Certification
- Distech Controls factory training and certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Controls, or related field
- Experience with energy analytics, fault detection, and optimization platforms
