General Position Description
Under the leadership of the Director of Student Success, this position is responsible for training, managing, and evaluating the student success coaches on assigned campuses. Supports the development and implementation of departmental operational procedures. Partners with leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of coaching outcomes and systems.

Essential Job Functions

Description of Job Function
1. Provides co-leadership in developing strategies to improve students’ experience, persistence, retention, and graduation.
2. Hires and supervises assigned student success coaches. Guides, evaluates, and distributes work.
3. Collaborates with the Student Success Leadership Team to coordinate and implement standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and quality coaching services across the college.
4. Assesses staff use of technologies, coaching tools, and dashboards, as well as established metrics such as student engagement, student persistence, graduation, and transfer readiness. Trains and supports staff on use of technology and tools.
5. Ensures that there is appropriate staff coverage to support a variety of service delivery models, such as group, one-on-one, and online coaching.
6. Works with college-wide student success coaches to ensure consistency of coaching practices, communication plans, and proactive strategies.
7. In partnership with the Director of Student Success, reviews survey results to ensure continuous improvement of coaching curriculum and student learning outcomes.
8. Analyzes data, produces reports and makes data-informed decisions that support coaching and college goals.
9. Develops new student onboarding programs and activities. Manages schedules to ensure training and coverage.
10. Serves as liaison to academic departments and other stakeholders. Participates in academic and student affairs meetings.
11. Participates in ongoing training and professional development to maintain knowledge on current program, career and occupational trends, as well as college policy and procedures.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Field of Study

Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in academic advising/coaching; experience in a team lead capacity or leading others.

1. Ability to lead, supervise, and develop assigned staff.

3. Knowledge of strategies and methodologies related to academic coaching or advising and career advising.

4. Skill in the use of personal computers and related office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

5. Skill in effectively communicating, interpersonally, orally, in writing, and through group facilitation.

6. Ability to organize work, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Ability to research the educational policies and graduation requirements of any college or university.
8. Ability to collaborate with other college departments to resolve issues to full resolution.

Working Conditions

General Working Conditions
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
