Position Summary
We are seeking Billing Specialists to join a high-volume consolidated billing center in Phoenix, AZ. This is an entry-level role offering structured training and hands-on experience supporting one of the largest billing operations in the organization. The Billing Specialist will assist with compiling customer billing data, creating invoices, reviewing account accuracy, and ensuring the integrity of customer receivables.
This team supports the production of a very high monthly invoice volume, making accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills essential. Candidates with experience in billing, coding, client service, service desk support, claims, or insurance environments (including BCBS-type roles) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn the billing system to accurately create and process invoices under guidance from senior team members.
- Review and analyze customer accounts to ensure billing accuracy.
- Perform data integrity checks and investigate discrepancies before invoice generation.
- Compile, validate, and analyze customer revenue data.
- Create and revise manual invoices as required.
- Research and resolve billing issues and customer inquiries.
- Process billing adjustments and customer refund requests.
- Learn to research and resolve customer credit balances.
- Follow all required internal controls and compliance procedures, including those related to financial accuracy.
- Support additional billing functions as needed, including specialized billing processes for specific service areas.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- 1 year of experience in billing, accounts receivable, accounting/finance, customer service, or similar roles, OR prior relevant organizational experience.
- Transferable backgrounds such as medical billing/coding, client service, service desk, insurance/claims, or BCBS-type roles are highly valuable.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel), Windows, data entry, and 10-key.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and thrive under tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with customers and peers.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Medical billing and/or coding experience
- Insurance or claims processing experience

Pay: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
