We are seeking an experienced Scheduler / Planner to support our production operations in a CNC machining and metal manufacturing environment.
Position Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining accurate production schedules, optimizing shop workflows, and ensuring the on-time delivery of customer orders. The ideal candidate balances production capacity with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong technical knowledge of metal manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain daily/weekly production schedules for CNC machining and metal manufacturing operations based on forecasts, customer demand, and machine availability.
- Actively utilize the Epicor ERP system to plan, release, monitor manufacturing orders, and maintain accurate data (lead times, routing steps, and scheduling parameters).
- Collaborate closely with operations, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to align production priorities and ensure material availability.
- Analyze machine utilization, labor availability, and capacity constraints to optimize throughput and mitigate bottlenecks.
- Partner with Operations Leads and shop floor supervisors to clearly communicate schedule updates, machine downtime adjustments, or priority shifts.
- Assist in monitoring KPIs including on-time delivery (OTD), operational efficiencies, and schedule adherence.
- Support ongoing lean and continuous improvement initiatives related to planning workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
- 4 years of production planning or scheduling experience specifically within a CNC machining or metal manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s, or associate degree in supply chain, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field.
- In lieu of a degree, 10 years of proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or shop management will be considered.
- Strong, hands-on working knowledge of Epicor ERP for production scheduling and order management is highly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Solid understanding of metal manufacturing and CNC machining processes (cutting, forming, welding, machining, finishing, etc.) and managing schedules across multiple complex work centers.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, exceptional organization, and the ability to communicate seamlessly with both shop floor personnel and executive management.
