Position Overview
A well-established law firm in Nassau County, Long Island is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney to join its growing practice. The role focuses primarily on consumer bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filings, client counseling, court appearances, and overall case management.
The firm is open to attorneys with varying levels of experience who are capable of handling matters independently and providing strong client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage consumer bankruptcy matters from intake through discharge
- Prepare and file Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions and related pleadings
- Represent clients at hearings, court appearances, and creditor meetings
- Advise clients regarding bankruptcy options, debt restructuring, and case strategy
- Communicate effectively with trustees, creditors, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, responses, and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedures
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing with the New York State Bar
- Experience handling bankruptcy matters preferred
- Knowledge of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage cases independently and work directly with clients
- Courtroom experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits
