The Brain Health Exercise Lead provides fitness services in a structured environment and coaching plans in a virtual environment to patients with cognitive impairments under the supervision of Brain Health Network clinical faculty. This position focuses on improving patients’ functional mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and overall quality of life through individualized exercise programs that consider both physical and cognitive needs. The Exercise Lead collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to design and implement safe, effective, and evidence-based programs and exercise plans that promote physical and cognitive health, and supervises personal trainers assisting them.
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Job Duty
Assist in the assessment of patients with cognitive impairments to improve functional mobility, strength, balance, endurance and safety awareness and overall quality of life through individualized exercise programs that consider both physical and cognitive needs. Oversee the day-to-day function of the Columbia based Brain Health fitness program including scheduling and supervising activities of personal trainers.

Assist with planning and executing the expansion of Brain Health Fitness programs throughout the state of South Carolina.

Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
- Personal training certification.
- Prefer a Master’s degree.
- Experience working with geriatric clients with or without cognitive or physical impairments.
- Knowledge of exercise science principles and practices.
- Ability to plan and direct work.
- Ability to communicate with cognitively impaired patients and their families.
- Ability to work independently and in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to utilize coaching software, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
- Knowledgeable of exercise equipment.
