The University of South Carolina School of Medicine – Columbia invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor (Professional Track), specializing in exercise programs and clinical and community translational research with an emphasis in Brain Health. We seek a PhD- or equivalent-level clinical/scientific candidate whose focus is on exercise for clinical populations, including individuals with cognitive impairments, dementia, and other neurologic diagnoses.
The Faculty member oversees skilled rehabilitative and fitness services to patients with cognitive impairments in a structured environment. This position focuses on improving patients’ functional mobility, strength, balance, endurance and overall quality of life through individualized exercise programs that consider both physical and cognitive needs. The faculty member collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to design and implement safe, effective, and evidence-based programs and exercise plans that promote physical and cognitive health and quality of life.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
PhD in Exercise Science or related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as a registered Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy
