Position Summary:
Join the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) at the University of Rochester, a national leader in laser-based fusion and high energy density physics research and education. We are seeking a skilled Mechatronics Engineer to contribute to the development and maintenance of advanced electronic and motion control systems across our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, assemble, document, test, and troubleshoot custom motion control systems.
- Utilize expertise in PID loops and integrate incremental and absolute encoders.
- Create and maintain detailed cabling and harness documentation.
- Provide high-level troubleshooting support for existing systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
- Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of motion control systems.
- Proficiency in PID loops and familiarity with encoders.
- Experience with cabling and harness documentation and fabrication.
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
