Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Assistant Director of Facilities and Event Management plans the day-to-day functions of assigned sports programs. This position will plan and organize activities, communicate program policy and procedures, and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external university constituents including coaches, staff, officials, and vendors. This position oversees assigned athletic facilities for upkeep and maintenance and ensures the facility is prepared and ready for competition and spectator use.
The Assistant Director will also identify, understand, and problem solve issues in assigned areas including assisting with the supervision and management of student workers and various temp employees. This position serves as the main program contact and game day manager for assigned sports and facilities. This position manages the 3rd party rentals for assigned sports & facilities and for the grounds of assigned facilities. Roles and responsibilities can be changed based on experience.
This position is responsible for ensuring successful operations for all UNCW athletic events. Nights and weekends are required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- Prior relevant working experience in Division I athletic programs
- Experience with athletics facilities and event management
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations concerning athletic programs
- Experience with electronic work order programs
