Job Summary
The University Memorial Center (UMC) at the University of Colorado, Boulder is seeking applications for a Maintenance Technician! This position is responsible for maintaining the mechanical systems and infrastructure of the facility, and provides a wide array of building maintenance functions and support in multiple areas of the UMC. This includes building mechanical systems, bowling equipment, plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc. This position will also troubleshoot equipment problems and make needed repairs, help maintain general upkeep throughout the facility, and assist with implementing the maintenance work order system and preventative maintenance programs throughout the UMC.

General Maintenance
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Conduct regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades across a variety of systems within the UMC, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Apply your experience with HVAC controls to ensure our heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems are running efficiently and effectively, performing routine services, purchasing and installing of new filters, and responding to specific issues as needed.
- Participate in ongoing efforts to ensure the UMC remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all, identifying and addressing potential issues before they intensify.
- Adhere to a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule to reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of facility equipment.
- Monitor building systems to optimize energy use, reduce costs, and support sustainability initiatives. Test functionality of equipment on a schedule and set up balancing as needed.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers to ensure that outsourced work meet University standards and specifications.
- Ensure all activities adhere to university safety policies and are aligned with relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide timely and effective responses to maintenance emergencies within the UMC, including potential off-hours work.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs completed, and warranties, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- This position operates University vehicles and requires a Driver's License in good standing.
- The anticipated shift schedule for this position will be from Sunday through Thursday, 9:00am to 6:00pm after the initial training period. Schedule may vary, and some late nights and weekends may be required.
- The annual salary range is $43,929 - $50,000.

What We Require
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Ability to work independently and complete job assignments in an appropriate, prescribed amount of time.
- Ability to work on a team to complete job assignments.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Skilled in critical thinking and the ability to diagnose proper course of action when problems or issues arise and resolve them in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Possession of HVAC certification preferred, and/or certifications or licensing in other areas like electrical or plumbing.
- Trade school certification or associate degree in a related field is a plus.
