Position Summary
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing residential and commercial irrigation systems. This role ensures efficient water usage, system functionality, and compliance with safety and quality standards while delivering excellent customer service on job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Install new irrigation and sprinkler systems, including piping, valves, controllers, and drip systems
- Diagnose and repair system issues such as leaks, low pressure, broken heads, and wiring faults
- Perform seasonal start-ups, winterizations, and system inspections
- Program and adjust irrigation controllers and smart watering systems
- Test system performance to ensure proper coverage and efficiency
- Read blueprints, site plans, and irrigation layouts
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and service completed
- Communicate with customers and supervisors regarding system needs and recommendations
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and local water regulations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles in good working condition
- Assist with landscape or construction tasks as needed
Qualifications
Required
- 1 year experience with irrigation systems, landscaping, or related field
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical components, and hand tools
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor (digging, trenching, kneeling)
Preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Irrigation Technician Certification (e.g., IA Certified Irrigation Technician)
- Experience with commercial irrigation systems
- Knowledge of smart irrigation controllers and water conservation practices
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor job sites (residential and commercial properties)
- Exposure to heat, cold, dust, mud, and uneven terrain
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and trenching equipment
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, kneeling, digging, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs
- Ability to operate tools and equipment safely
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
