Floor Care Technician

Performs floor care, maintenance and finishing duties. Cares for a variety of surfaces including carpet, tile, stone, vinyl and wood. Uses professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques. Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner. Uses assigned communication device.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:
Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. (subject to change to meet the needs of the University).
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred and six (6) months of experience in a commercial, institutional, or education setting, including experience operating floor care equipment (burnishers, strippers) required.
MVR:
Some positions require that driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle
in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession of a valid
driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving
experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
PERSONAL:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:
- Performs floor maintenance and finishing duties. Cares for a variety of surfaces in an effective manner to avoid damage. Performs heavy stripping, burnishing, scrubbing and waxing and finishing of hard flooring materials. Shampoos, extracts and spot cleans carpeted surfaces and rugs. Operates high and low speed floor machines.
- Takes great care to safely move and protect furniture and fixtures prior to cleaning. Replaces items back to original position after work is completed.
- Maintains and operates equipment and performs duties in a safe manner to prevent injuries to people and facilities. Reports needed flooring repairs, safety hazards or conditions requiring additional service. Monitors equipment use and performs basic maintenance. Reports equipment that requires repair.
- Attends team meetings. Uses assigned communication device to respond to regular and urgent requests.
- Completes tasks independently and works with others as assigned to perform duties in a safe manner. Actively participates in ongoing training to maintain professional cleaning skills.
- Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
