Job Summary
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining clean, sanitary, and safe floor surfaces throughout the nursing home. This role plays an important part in infection prevention and resident safety by ensuring all flooring is properly cleaned, maintained, and free of hazards while being mindful of residents, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, maintain, strip, wax, seal, and buff floors in resident rooms, hallways, dining areas, offices, and common spaces
- Operate floor-care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, burnishers, carpet extractors, and vacuums
- Follow infection control, OSHA, and nursing home sanitation standards at all times
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to facility guidelines
- Place wet floor signs and take precautions to prevent slips and falls
- Work respectfully and quietly around residents, especially those with mobility or cognitive impairments
- Coordinate floor care activities to minimize disruption to residents and care staff
- Perform carpet cleaning and spot treatment as needed
- Inspect floors for damage and report repairs or safety concerns
- Maintain and clean equipment after use
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous floor care or environmental services experience preferred (healthcare or long-term care a plus)
- Knowledge of proper floor care techniques and equipment
- Understanding of infection control practices
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
