What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Learning Program Coordinator (Payson) position at United Way of Utah County?
Program Description: UW Community Centers Summer Learning
The Summer Learning Program is important because research reveals that children from all backgrounds tend to progress equally in school, but over summer, higher income children continue improving while low-income children flat line or fall behind. This program plays a highly impactful role in the lives of at-risk kids in Utah County by preventing summer learning loss and helping them advance in both academic and social/emotional abilities.
We will hold two sessions per day (morning and afternoon) of Summer Learning for four continuous weeks during July 2026, for children grades 2-7. We will offer reading and math classes, taught by certified teachers, with one student aide who is working toward an education degree in each class. We will also offer a social/emotional class, based on a state-endorsed curriculum and taught by certified teachers and interns; STEM activities, and weekly field trips/days, directly related to the week's STEM focus. Children will receive a free, healthy lunch and snacks daily.
