Welcome Baby AmeriCorps Summer Associate

Since launching Welcome Baby, United Way of Utah County has supported families with young children by providing early childhood education, parent engagement opportunities, and connections to essential community resources. Through playgroups, parent education classes, and outreach events, the program helps families---especially those from low-income households---build strong foundations for healthy child development and school readiness.

As our Welcome Baby Summer Associate, you will help strengthen sustainable systems that support family engagement, early learning, and outreach efforts across Utah County. This role focuses on facilitating playgroups, supporting parent education classes, and expanding awareness of Welcome Baby and Help Me Grow programs through community outreach. Your work will help create reusable curriculum tools, organized activity materials, and outreach resources that strengthen the long-term impact of the program.

Duties & Responsibilities

Playgroup & Family Engagement Support

• Facilitate playgroups for children and parents, encouraging participation and positive parent-child interaction.
• Prepare and organize lesson materials and activity supplies for weekly playgroups.
• Develop and document reusable playgroup curriculum and activity plans for future use. Parent Education Class Support
• Prepare materials for Ready to Learn parent classes and assist with session setup.
• Support family participation during classes and engage children during parent-focused instruction.
• Organize lesson materials into reusable formats for ongoing program delivery. Community Outreach & Awareness
• Attend outreach events across Utah County to share information about Welcome Baby and Help Me Grow.
• Distribute program materials and connect families with available resources.
• Gather family feedback to improve outreach and identify future partnership opportunities.
  
  

Qualifications

• Ability to manage multiple projects and activities within a 10-week timeframe
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working with families and children
• Experience working with children, families, education, or community programs is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Valid Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for travel to outreach events
• Passion for early childhood development and supporting families
• Spanish language skills are a plus
