The Purchasing Specialist is a member of the Purchasing Team. This role is responsible for procurement supply continuity and the deployment of regional sourcing strategies for their assigned purchasing area. This position will, along with other team members in the department, ensure the best sourcing for all products procured based on cost, quality, and delivery- overall value to the organization.
RESPONSIBILITES
· Responsible for purchasing a wide range of medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
· Researching/sourcing products and processing requisitions/requests for quotations.
· Monitor inventory levels and track usage patterns to anticipate future needs and prevent stockouts. Work closely with inventory control teams to optimize inventory levels and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
· Responsible for follow-up of all issued purchase orders to ensure appropriate delivery dates/times/locations.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the procurement process. Implement best practices and standardize procedures to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
· Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods and unacceptable quality/quantity.
· Proactively inform internal customers of any potential delays that may impact the client.
· Maintain current pricing and ordering information in system, update as needed.
· Review requirements and purchase products at the most favorable price and highest quality, consistent with specification and other factors.
· Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
· Previous purchasing experience required
· Marine or pharma industry purchasing procurement preferred
· Previous experience in SAP preferred
· Strong commercial awareness and negotiating skills
· Strong organizational and planning skills
· Flexibility/adaptability to changing priorities, multiple internal customers
· Ability to communicate effectively and work with internal and external customers
· Ability to bring teams together to resolve issues and achieve targets and goals
· Knowledge of strategic sourcing and procurement work processes and solutions
· Sense of ownership and urgency
