The DSP Onboarding and Training Manager leads the hiring, onboarding, and training of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This role ensures new hires are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to deliver high-quality, person-centered services in full compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Training Development
- Design and implement engaging training programs aligned with organizational values and regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain training materials across in-person, virtual, and e-learning formats.
- Continuously evaluate and improve training effectiveness.
Onboarding & Logistics
- Manage the full onboarding process, from initial paperwork to full role integration.
- Schedule and lead training sessions; monitor progress and ensure timely completion.
- Ensure new hires receive necessary tools, credentials, and system access.
Staff Training & Development
- Provide ongoing coaching and professional development for new and existing DSPs.
- Train staff on Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and Behavior Support Plans.
- Monitor performance and provide feedback to support growth and quality care.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure completion of all required training, certifications, and background checks.
- Maintain accurate records related to training, performance, and compliance.
- Stay current on regulatory changes, licensing standards, and audit requirements.
Leadership & Support
- Serve as a mentor and resource for DSPs, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
- Collaborate with supervisors, departments, and external partners to support staff and clients.
- Assist with scheduling, staff meetings, and other supervisory duties as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in training and staff development.
- Knowledge of disability services and person-centered care practices.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing DSP roles.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate complex processes.
- Proficiency in documentation systems and automated timekeeping software.
- Technologically adept; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including fax machines, phone systems, and other tools necessary for the role.
