The Head Wrestling Coach will be responsible for developing athletes' skills, organizing practices, and leading the team throughout the competitive season.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily wrestling practices, ensuring a safe and productive training environment.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive wrestling curriculum that enhances athletes' skills and knowledge of the sport.
- Organize and manage the team during competitions, including scheduling matches and coordinating transportation.
- Foster a positive team culture that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among student-athletes.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and development of each athlete, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Ensure compliance with all school and district policies, as well as any relevant league regulations.
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall success of the athletic program at O'Leary Middle School.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with best practices and trends in wrestling.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and in good condition for use.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
- Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the wrestling season.
- A commitment to promoting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of student-athletes.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is preferred.
All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
Salary : $53,073 - $77,551
