Scientist III - Stem Cell Biology / In Vitro Research

Location: Ridgefield, Connecticut

Job Type: 24 Month Contract

Work Arrangement: Onsite


About the Role

We are seeking a Scientist with strong hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology to support in vitro research and drug discovery activities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable independently designing, executing, troubleshooting, and interpreting experiments with minimal supervision.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cell-based and biochemical assay development while working collaboratively with scientists across research and development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and complete routine in vitro studies independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret experimental results, identify appropriate follow-up studies, and troubleshoot experimental challenges.
  • Design and execute cell-based and biochemical assays based on scientific literature and published protocols.
  • Conduct exploratory experiments and apply basic scientific principles to solve research problems.
  • Perform literature searches and stay current with relevant scientific developments and technologies.
  • Independently operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Propose new experiments and technologies based on scientific knowledge and an understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
  • Contribute scientific expertise and provide training or guidance to technicians and junior-level scientists.
  • Communicate and defend experimental findings effectively through written and verbal presentations.
  • Contribute to protocols, procedures, technical reports, and scientific documentation.
  • Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks and ensure a high level of data integrity and scientific ethics.
  • Perform all work safely and in compliance with applicable regulations, SOPs, and laboratory policies.
  • Work effectively within a highly collaborative research environment.


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant scientific experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of relevant scientific experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in aseptic mammalian tissue/cell culture techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques, including:
  • Nucleic acid extraction
  • RT-PCR
  • Western blot
  • ELISA
  • Transfection
  • Demonstrated experience with experimental design, execution, troubleshooting, and interpretation.
  • Ability to independently operate laboratory equipment and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn and evaluate new technologies.
  • Ability to prepare concise and accurate technical reports and communicate scientific findings effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism or comparable data analysis software.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
  • Understanding of applicable laboratory regulations and compliance requirements.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with human pluripotent stem cell culture.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or related research environments.
  • Supplemental technical training or coursework in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience training or mentoring technicians and junior scientists.
  • Experience contributing to drug discovery or development programs.
