Scientist III (Protein Purification & Analytics)

We are seeking a Scientist III to support protein purification and analytical workflows within a fast-paced biotherapeutics research environment. This role will focus on purification, characterization, and data analysis of protein therapeutics, working cross-functionally to support discovery and development efforts.
⚠️ Please note: This role is not open to PhD candidates.
What You’ll Do
- Design and execute protein purification using chromatography techniques (Affinity, SEC, CEX, AEX, MMC, HIC)
- Perform analytical assays to assess protein purity, stability, and quality (HPLC-SEC, SDS-PAGE, CGE, DLS)
- Analyze and interpret experimental data to evaluate protein attributes and stability
- Troubleshoot purification processes and contribute to process development improvements
- Conduct screening of protein behaviors under various conditions and present findings to internal teams
- Support development of new analytical methods and evaluate emerging technologies
- Collaborate across teams to support broader biotherapeutics research initiatives
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with SOPs and safety standards
- Contribute to automation and workflow optimization efforts to improve throughput and data quality
Day-to-Day
- Hands-on lab work (~75%) focused on protein/antibody purification
- Data analysis and reporting (~25%)
- Weekly purification of incoming samples with multi-step workflows
- Deliver purified protein to internal project teams
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–3 years of industry or CRO experience in protein sciences or related field
- Strong experience with protein purification and analytical techniques
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques
- Experience with HPLC and protein characterization methods
- Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, and manage multiple workflows
- Strong communication skills and proactive, team-oriented mindset
- High energy, curiosity, and willingness to ask questions and take initiative
Nice to Have
- Experience with AKTA systems / Unicorn software
- Experience with Empower or similar HPLC data systems
- Automation or high-throughput protein expression experience
- Knowledge of molecular biology and DNA quality assessment
Education
- Master’s degree 3 years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree 7 years of relevant experience
