Duties

• Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, examination areas, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemical agents.
• Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with healthcare protocols.
• Use proper manual handling techniques for heavy lifting of supplies, furniture, or equipment to prevent injury and maintain safety standards.
• Follow strict OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to ensure safe handling of chemicals and cleaning agents while maintaining compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces according to healthcare infection prevention and control procedures.
• Operate cleaning machinery such as floor buffers, vacuums, steam cleaners, and other specialized equipment efficiently.
• Assist with waste disposal and biohazard material handling in accordance with environmental services regulations.
• Support the overall cleanliness of healthcare facilities by adhering to hospital-specific housekeeping policies and procedures.
• Respond promptly to cleaning requests from staff or management to ensure a consistently safe environment for all.

Skills

• Proven experience in janitorial services within healthcare or hospital settings; familiarity with healthcare facilities housekeeping is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, environmental safety, and infection control practices.
• Skilled in cleaning techniques for various surfaces including floors, countertops, medical equipment, and upholstery.
• Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Experience with laundry processes specific to healthcare environments including proper handling of contaminated linens.
• Excellent manual handling skills with a focus on safe lifting practices for heavy objects or supplies.
• Exceptional customer service skills to interact professionally with staff and visitors while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Knowledge of chemical agents used in healthcare cleaning—understanding their proper use and potential hazards.
• Ability to follow detailed safety protocols consistently while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with hospital infection prevention measures ensures compliance with health standards at all times.
