POSITION OVERVIEW:
The HVAC Superintendent supports the General Superintendent in managing the day-to-day field operations of HVAC construction projects. This role is responsible for supervising field personnel, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects remain on schedule. The Superintendent works closely with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure all HVAC installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Field Leadership & Execution
- Supervise HVAC field teams, including foremen, technicians, and subcontractors
- Coordinate daily site activities across multiple projects to ensure alignment with schedules
- Monitor productivity and provide direction to optimize performance
- Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain project timelines
- Proactively identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays
- Ensure labor, materials, and equipment are available to meet project demands
- Oversee HVAC installations to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards
- Conduct regular inspections to verify workmanship and efficiency
- Enforce adherence to internal quality control processes
- Promote and enforce safety protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations
- Lead safety meetings and perform routine job site safety inspections
- Foster a culture of accountability and safety awareness
- Coordinate with procurement teams for timely delivery of materials
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and usage of equipment and tools
- Monitor equipment condition and availability
- Act as a liaison between field teams, project managers, engineers, and stakeholders
- Provide consistent updates on progress, risks, and project milestones
- Address field-related concerns promptly and professionally
- Troubleshoot technical and operational challenges
- Resolve labor, scheduling, or material issues efficiently
- Support teams with technical expertise and decision-making
- Maintain accurate job site records, including daily reports and safety logs
- Track manpower, progress, and project changes using project management tools
- Report key updates and insights to leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical training, HVAC certification, or journeyman license preferred
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is a plus
- 8-10 years of HVAC construction experience
- 3-5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role
- Experience managing commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential projects
- Proven ability to oversee multiple job sites simultaneously
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems and installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Solid understanding of OSHA and safety standards
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication across diverse teams and stakeholders
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel to various job sites
- Valid driver's license with a clean record
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying conditions
