Industrial / Midstream Oil & Gas
Seeking an experienced an Estimator to lead the development of accurate, buildable estimates for industrial and midstream oil & gas projects. This role serves as the primary mechanical estimating lead, supporting piping, mechanical, welding, equipment setting, and facility work from bid through project handoff.
What You’ll Do
- Independently develop detailed mechanical estimates from drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform material and labor takeoffs for piping, welding, equipment, valves, and structural components
- Analyze drawings for constructability issues, scope gaps, and risk exposure
- Build labor estimates using crew compositions, production rates, and historical data
- Solicit, evaluate, and normalize vendor and subcontractor quotes in partnership with Supply Chain
- Participate in pre‑bid meetings and site walks to assess project risks and conditions
- Identify and document assumptions, exclusions, risks, and clarifications
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering, and Field teams to validate means and methods
- Support value engineering and alternative construction approaches
- Prepare estimate summaries and pricing for leadership review
- Maintain estimating databases, cost models, and historical production data
- Support conceptual, budgetary, and FEL‑level estimates
- Lead clear estimate handoffs to Project Controls and Project Execution teams
- Manage multiple bids while communicating status and priorities effectively
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience estimating mechanical and piping scopes in industrial environments
- Deep understanding of piping materials, pressure classes, fittings, and fabrication practices
- Ability to develop detailed labor build‑ups and crew‑based estimates
- Proficiency reading P&IDs, isometrics, mechanical drawings, and specifications
- Experience with unit‑rate and resource‑based estimating methodologies
- Proficiency in estimating tools such as InEight, HeavyBid, Navisworks, Bluebeam, or similar
- Advanced Excel skills (cost modeling, formulas, pivot tables)
- Knowledge of ASME, API, and industrial construction specifications
- Understanding of indirect costs, equipment rates, consumables, and labor burdens
Nice to Have
- JD Edwards experience (cost codes, cost tracking)
- Power BI or estimating KPI dashboards
- Primavera P6 or MS Project familiarity
- Field experience in mechanical, piping, or welding
- Experience with midstream oil & gas facilities, pipelines, or terminals
- Professional certifications (AACEI CEP, PMP, ASPE)
Experience & Education
- 5 years of mechanical estimating experience in midstream oil & gas
- Proven experience estimating pipelines, facilities, and terminals
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent field or estimating experience considered
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
