Job Title: Material Handling Equipment Mechanic
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay: $23 – $30 per hour, depending on experience
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Material Handling Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of equipment including forklifts, excavators, lifts, and other heavy machinery. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with hydraulics, engines, crankshafts, and other mechanical systems.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair material handling and heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, and lifts.
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
- Rebuild and repair engines, hydraulics, crankshafts, and related components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Maintain accurate repair and service records.
- Ensure all work meets safety and operational standards.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a mechanic working with forklifts, excavators, or other material handling/heavy equipment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, engines, crankshafts, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.

* Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools.
* Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.
* Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
* Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records.
* Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
* Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears.
* Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent.
* Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
* Fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal.
* Direct workers who are assembling or disassembling equipment or cleaning parts.
