Job Description – Instructional Designer
We are seeking an experienced and creative Instructional Designer to support the design, development, and implementation of engaging learning solutions and training programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in instructional design methodologies, eLearning development, adult learning principles, and SCORM-compliant course creation. This role will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), leadership teams, and stakeholders to develop accessible and effective training materials that align with organizational goals and learner needs.
This position requires excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple instructional design projects while ensuring timely delivery and high-quality learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Training Needs Assessments and Audience Analyses to identify learning objectives, performance gaps, target learners, and delivery methods.
- Design, develop, and maintain 508-compliant instructional materials including course outlines, learning objectives, storyboards, video scripts, job aids, quick reference guides, and supporting documentation.
- Develop engaging learning content in multiple formats including instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT), eLearning, webinars, microlearning modules, videos, and interactive learning experiences.
- Create SCORM-compliant eLearning courses using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia.
- Develop and administer assessments, quizzes, simulations, and practical exercises to evaluate learner comprehension and training effectiveness.
- Analyze assessment data and provide recommendations to improve learning outcomes and instructional effectiveness.
- Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to gather content and ensure training materials are accurate, relevant, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Track and document instructional design project progress, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and deadlines are met.
- Review and update existing training materials and curriculum to maintain accuracy, compliance, and alignment with industry standards.
- Stay current with trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in instructional design, adult learning, and eLearning development.
- Support additional training and instructional development activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in Instructional Design, Training & Development, Education, or related fields.
- Experience supporting large-scale ERP transitions, preferably Workday implementations.
- Strong expertise in instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE, SAM, and Kirkpatrick’s Evaluation Model.
- Experience creating SCORM-compliant training courses and working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools including Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia.
- Strong understanding of 508-compliance and accessibility standards for learning materials.
- Experience developing instructional content such as storyboards, course summaries, job aids, assessments, and video scripts.
- Ability to create engaging interactive learning experiences across multiple delivery methods.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project tracking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs, leadership teams, and learners in a hybrid work environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
- Experience using Workday Learning Management System (LMS) for training administration, learner tracking, reporting, and compliance management.
- Experience integrating Workday with eLearning platforms and authoring tools.
- Knowledge of gamification techniques to enhance learner engagement and retention.
- Experience creating multimedia content using Adobe Creative Suite tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide Workday ERP implementation and training initiatives.
- Advanced multimedia development and interactive content creation experience.
