Design Verification Engineer

Job Title: System Engineer 3

Location: San Jose, CA

Contract Term: 12 months

Job Duties

• Debugging PC systems with an emphasis on platform-level debug.
• Strong understanding of PC industry standard buses such as: HT, PCI, PCIe, LPC, USB, SATA
• Detailed knowledge of: High-speed digital design, Signal integrity
• Strong understanding of: BIOS, OS interactions at the system level, x86 CPU architecture and functionality
• Familiarity with switching power supplies is preferred, as typical CPU boards contain several local power supplies to power various chips.
• During development or sustaining engineering, the debug engineer is expected to:
• Provide root cause analysis, Guide internal and customer design teams, Help close gating issues
• Some travel may be required to support customers.
• Must be self-starting and able to work with a high level of ambiguity.

Preferred Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s degree with 0–2 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience preferred.
• Experience as a Hardware Design or Systems Debug Engineer at a computer hardware company.
• Experience working on at least 2 projects from development through bring-up, validation, and production support.
• Strong knowledge of: x86 chipset architectures, DDR2/3 memory interfaces
• Expert use of tools such as: JTAG debuggers , Logic analyzers, SATA analyzers, USB analyzers, PCB business analyzers
• Familiarity with tools such as: Schematics capture, PLD. PCB layout, Signal integrity, Simulation tools
• Excellent communication skills, especially in supporting customers.
