SUMMARY OF PRIMARY FUNCTION The Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for supporting, coaching, and mentoring classroom staff on curriculum and assessment implementation and assisting with classroom staffing, teacher qualifications, and daily program operations, supporting and monitoring effective early childhood education and disabilities services, and ensures compliance with federal, state, professional and program standards. The Curriculum Coordinator provides on-the-job guidance and training for classroom staff with effective curriculum and assessment implementation to fidelity. Provides backup coverage for teaching staff as needed, to include individualized teacher support, modeling, and hands on mentoring. Helps recruit potential parents by providing information to them about the various program services and benefits offered to enrolled children and families. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Personnel Assists in recruitment and selection of qualified classroom staff. Assists in coordination of classroom staffing, planning and break schedules Promotes positive staff relations. Assists in assuring all required training is completed for classroom staff. Systems and Services Monitors and supports curriculum, education, and disabilities systems and services. Contributes to developing effective systems for service delivery, documentation, monitoring and reporting. Assists in developing problem-solving strategies for the operation and improvement of classroom operation. Assists in the coordination, planning and evaluation of education and curriculum goals. Education Services Provides leadership to and supports teaching staffcoaching and mentoring strategies as needed. This includes yet is not limited to on the job guidance and training for classroom staff to ensure effective implementation of The Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Conscious Discipline to support children s growth and learning, using The Fidelity Tool and the Head Start Early Learning and Outcomes Framework (HSELOF) as companion guides. Reviews ongoing assessment documentation, and ensures timely and accurate completion Teaching Strategies GOLD data collection, provides feedback to classrooms and makes recommendations for improvements Collaborates with Early Childhood Coaches to ensure classroom staff effectively creates a positive and responsive classroom environment that includes high quality teacher interactions, as defined by and outlined in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and Head Start Program Performance Standards. Assists in documenting education related services in ChildPlus, providing accurate and timely follow up to ensure continuity of care. Supports classroom staff in documentation of education related services and events to ensure timely completion and compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards requirements. Assists in supporting and monitoring Child Development Associate (CDA) completion. Disabilities Services Partners with the Disability Services Specialist to ensure full inclusion of children with disabilities, following the Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and state laws and regulations. Reviews education and disability screenings to assure completion in a timely manner, proper documentation and identification of any need to further evaluate and/or intervention Completes developmental screenings as needed to support first year teachers and Teachers in Training, ensuring that all screenings are completed in compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards 45 and 30 day requirements. Assist classrooms in providing any necessary modifications to the environment, varied formats of instruction, and individualized accommodations and support as needed for the full participation of children with disabilities. Supports teaching staff in responding to individual needs and implementation of hildren s goals and objectives in the Individual Education Plan (IEP), Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP) and/or Professional Plan. Collaborates with the Education and Disability Services team to support all aspects of disability services at the center level and partners with families to ensure the success of their child in the classroom. Assists in documenting disability and related services in ChildPlus, providing accurate and timely follow up to ensure continuity of care. Supports classroom staff in documentation of disability related services and events to ensure timely completion and compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards requirements. Supports effective transition for children and families coming into the program in regards to education/disability services by providing, training, resources and support; Supports effective transitions for children exiting the program to ensure continuity of services with receiving schools and/or other early childhood programs. Mental Health Services Partners with the Education and Disability Services Team to schedule and support Mental Health Consultation services, related to mental health services and social emotional development. Assists in providing classroom support for promoting social emotional skills, utilizing Conscious Discipline, The Creative Curriculum, and Teaching Strategies GOLD. Collaborates with the Education and Disability Services team to support challenging behaviors and partners with families to ensure the success of their child in the classroom, following program requirements for implementation of the Positive Behavior Support Model and Head Start Program Performance Standards requirements for mental health services. Assists in documenting mental health and related services in ChildPlus, providing accurate and timely follow up to ensure continuity of care. Supports classroom staff in documentation of mental health related services and events to ensure timely completion and compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards requirements. Communication Utilizes effective communication skills building trust and confidentiality, careful listening and asking questions to achieve clarity. Facilitates effective communication, problem solving, planning, cooperation, and follow through among teaching staff. Models effective approaches and encourage positive change through reflective practice in a supportive and caring environment. Ongoing Training, Coaching, and Mentoring Determines, conducts and/or coordinates on the job training and technical assistance for classroom staff. Assists in providing group, pre-service, in-service and post-service training and presentation as necessary related the area of education and disabilities. Provides teaching staff with consistent, ongoing individual feedback and modeling to maximize high quality services. Supports, monitors, and ensures effective curriculum and assessment implementation to fidelity, classroom management, and teacher interactions aligned with CLASS and Head Start Program Performance Standards requirements. Responds to short-term and long-term staff training needs including recommendations for professional development to improve qualifications and performance. Coordinates programming activities designed to support adult learning. Assist in coordinating and planning professional development opportunities, including opportunities for higher education and early childhood credentials or certificates. Provides information, training and materials to staff as needed to implement training. Provides ongoing assistance and support to staff in order to enhance effective program operations. Leadership and Support Assists in ensuringquality services are provided by classroom staff; ; offering continued support, guidance and resources as needed to be successful. Supports the expectation of a professional and positive work environment, treating everyone with respect.
