Job Title: CHEER COACH
Reports to: Activities Director
Status: Annual contract
Job Summary: The coach motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport of cheerleading and is responsible for coaching them in techniques that prepares them for sports events and competition.
Essential Functions:
- Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages student athletes to participate.
- Follows an established protocol in the recruitment, selection, and support of cheerleaders.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides appropriate supervision during practices, events, and competitions.
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Observes and critiques cheerleaders during practices, events, and competitions to determine the needs for individual and team improvement.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an emergency.
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct toward cheerleaders, officials, other athletes, and spectators.
- Follows established procedure for the procurement and maintenance of cheerleading supplies and uniforms.
- Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
- Participates in special activities to include parent meetings, banquets, and rallies.
- Celebrates accomplishments and growth of each student and the team in their scheduled events.
- Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
- Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
- Other duties as assigned.
