Job Title: Freshman Cheer Coach - WHS for 2026-27
Reports To: Cheer Coordinator and the Assistant Principal
DESCRIPTION: Instruct student athletes in the fundamentals, strategies, rules, and physical training needed for individual and team success in cheer. Promote participation, self-confidence, work ethic, and good sportsmanship in each student involved.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport
- Ability to obtain current CPR / First Aid when applicable
- Ability to work effectively with sport coaching staff, parents, and school staff
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Attend summer and school year practices / meetings
- Attend summer UCA / NCA camp
- Supervise cheerleaders at games for various sports
- Coordinate and supervise various philanthropy and fundraising events
- Assist in the preparation and supervision of cheer tryouts in the spring
- Take responsibility for all outcomes and happenings related to cheerleading
- Maintain organized set of standard procedures and routines
- Maintain consistent communication with Assistant Principals
- Comply with department / district policies
- Develop positive self image with athletics
- Utilize sound teaching methods to develop skills / techniques
- Demonstrate public support / loyalty for coaches
- Demonstrate positive team sportsmanship toward opponents and officials
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Able to establish and maintain strong lines of communication with student other coaches, athletes, parents, and teachers
- Be approachable and encourage all stakeholders to share concerns
- Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Develop a consistent, stable, and trustworthy working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
- Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies
